Ian Wilson has many years’ experience in school improvement. He was formerly Principal Consultant for Schools at Babcock 4S in Surrey.  Ian was an accredited Ofsted Inspector until 2016.  Ian was the Headteacher of two secondary schools which achieved record examination results and were regularly over-subscribed. His experience included serving on the Education Committee and taking part in an international research project on “Effective Leadership in a time of change”.

Ian has led many courses on issues ranging from the use of data to how to deal with aggressive people.  He was formerly a member of the Education Committee of the Royal Society and is a Fellow of the Royal Statistical Society.

He is experienced in supporting and challenging secondary and primary schools, ranging from those with outstanding practice to those causing concern. He has carried out many reviews of leadership and of teaching in both secondary and primary schools. His work has included projects advising Local Authorities on school reorganisation and school improvement work.

Ian has extensive experience in governance, including chairing two Multi-Academy Trusts, Member of a MAT and Trustee of another MAT. He has also carried out investigations at the request of governing bodies.

Ian’s publications include two mathematics textbooks, a guide to ICT for parents, and (as co-author) the latest edition of “Effective School Management”.
